Mindfulness School for Kids:
Lessons in How-to Live
"It isn’t academic education alone that makes people happy. It is “how-to-live” education—how to develop a harmonious, moral life, stronger will power, and spiritual understanding—that will bring happiness."
~ Paramahansa Yogananda
We've been asking for this for a long time - That our children to be educated on the most basic and necessary skills for life. In the year 1917, a Swami in India by the name of Paramahansa Yogananda founded a school known as the "How to Live School." There, children learned mathematics, science and language, but they also learned how to breathe, how to move their bodies, how to compassionately resolve conflict, how to be still, and how to tap into the unlimited power of the universe to become responsible co-creators of their lives. Sadly though, this is not the way that our current education system is set up.
The greatest gift of these changing times for our children could be the opportunity for us to educate them on how to live. By teaching them how to meditate, how to breathe, and how to move their bodies, we are empowering them to take control of their choices, their emotions, and their results.
We believe in 4 foundational pillars for nurturing happy and successful children. These pillars are:
Resiliency: The ability to recover and learn from stressful situations
Self-Regulation: The ability to monitor and self-direct emotions and energy
Responsibility: The ability to make conscious choices and take ownership over all outcomes
Compassion: The ability to feel alongside the suffering of others
